CLASS DETAILS
As an actor, even though you may have a solid process for working with a script and bringing it to full life during a rehearsal period, many still struggle with the spontaneous process of the audition.
It's important to work on that skill (auditioning) separately from our regular work - which will allow the actor to adjust to various environments and work quickly under pressure.
Auditions II will help the actor connect quickly with text and learn how to make quick choices to bring it fully to life. This semester will be heavy in audition application work with a focus on reading with intention.
BREAKDOWN OF SEMESTER
Cold Reading: We will learn how to properly use the page in a cold read audition and apply the core work and "working-off" to bring authentic life to the audition.
Callbacks: Once you pass the initial audition, now what? We will learn how to bring the script into its full depth.
Monologues: Monologues are scenes and we will work all of the tools to bring them into full life.
Online Auditions: Learning how to use the online environment to your advantage.
Self-Tapes: Discovering how to make this process as simple and accessible as possible.
HOMEWORK
This class will require certain homework as it relates to auditioning. Most of the homework will be the same things required as an actor for a normal audition process. Because of the rapid progression of the work in this class, attendance is of the utmost importance.

SIX PILLARS OF ACTING
Auditions II will focus heavily on the Psychological pillar, since stepping outside yourself and giving yourself immediate permission to PLAY is critical. Also, Mental/Analytical and Craft/Technical will be a main area of focus as we develop the skills needed for any audition. In addition, we will also apply the Emotional, Vocal, and Physical layers to the skills we learn in order to deliver the strongest performance possible.
