CLASS DETAILS
Throughout your training, you learn many tools to help you create truthful and powerful life. However, beyond all the tools, all the personalization, all the work, an important component remains - the ability to let it all go and live in the life - without thought, without right or wrong, without the effort of "trying" to do it. But simply living in the moment - freely expressing and fighting with everything you have to get what you need.
This semester will focus on that spontaneous moment - the ability to step fully into the moment without any worry about getting it "right" or "wrong" - but with a sense of PLAY!
BREAKDOWN OF SEMESTER
Fundamentals: Going back to where it all begins, we will work on bringing outward focus into our storytelling, applying the core and then really talking and really listening (and in turn, really living) through each and every performance.
Strengthening the Core: We need to go back to the basics and make sure we fully understand the concept of the CORE - to exist in the here and now - fully present with another human being.
Game Playing: Part of working on PLAY is learning to have fun while doing it. We will be using games to help us get into that spirit.
Emotional Work: Many times as an actor, we think that we can only have fun in non-emotional moments. But part of PLAY is realizing it's for all moments - even the devastating ones 🙂
Text Work: The lines of a script keep us in our heads - thinking about what we need to say and how to say it. However, with PLAY, we need to work with the lines quickly and without thought.
HOMEWORK
This class will introduce many new tools and will require homework. Students will be required to complete at-home skill assignments to better understand the new tools learned. Because of the rapid progression of the work in this class, attendance is of the utmost importance.

SIX PILLARS OF ACTING
Play I will focus heavily on the Mental/Analytical and Craft/Technical aspects of the work, as we develop the skills needed to step fully into the moment. In addition, we will also apply the Psychological layer as we discover how to feel fully in a spontaneous moment.
